Corson alloy (copper alloy containing silicon and nickel), which usually requires fluorine for treatment, can be treated with it without forming smut, and it assures good adhesion of the film to be plated in the subsequent stage. Features 1.　 Smut is not formed even in the treatment of Corson alloy and good etched surface can be obtained for it like in the case of other copper alloys. 2.　 The dissolved metal deposits on the cathode and therefore it is not necessary to renew the bath due to increase in copper concentration in the bath. 3.　 In addition to its being of fluorine-free, the wastewater treatment effort can be reduced significantly. 4.　 The running cost can be reduced significantly.
